VOLUNTEER
We try to keep our tuition and fees as low as possible so that a SMMS education is accessible to families in our community. As a result, tuition and fees do not cover the full cost of educating students at St. Mary Magdalen School.
One way we try to subsidize the gap is through our parent hours program.
Each family is required to complete 30 parent hours per year (15 for single-parent households and families with a parent on active-deployment). These can be fulfilled through various means which include, but are not limited to:
-
Serving on the Parent Teacher Organization
-
Volunteering as a room parent
-
Coaching one of our sports teams
-
Serving as an Art Trek docent
-
Helping with fundraisers and events
-
Donating a skill you have (ie renovations, photography, etc)
We also require each family to participate in our Scrip Program, which allows them to meet their family obligation through the purchase of gift cards. More information about this will be sent home with your student.
While not mandatory, we also host four annual fundraisers that we encourage parent participation in:
-
Day of Giving- share the SMMS mission, vision, and values and help us reach our goal!
-
Monsignor Hughes Annual Golf Tournament- join us for a game of golf, or just come for dinner. Ticket prices and the date will be released soon.
-
Eagle Run- support your student's fundraising efforts by creating a fundraising page for them and sharing it with your community! Our top-earning students get fun prizes, and all of our students enjoy some laps around the field that is transformed into an obstacle course with three bounce houses! If we reach our school-wide fundraising goals, we bring in an exciting reward for our students.
-
Pennies from Heaven- come and enjoy a fabulous night of dinner, dancing, drinks, and auctions! You're welcome to donate items towards the auctions, or just come and bid on some amazing prizes. You don't want to miss it! Date and ticket prices will be made known shortly.
