STUDENT SUPPORT

We are committed to supporting all of our students, and are dedicated to intervening early when students have academic challenges so that they do not fall behind. Read below to learn more about our four student support services and how we help students who need a little extra support.

INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING

Our 1:1 use of technology in our classrooms allow students to practice skills they may be falling behind in at an individualized pace, while also participating in normal classroom instruction. Our student assessments on IXL also help our teachers identify students who can use some extra help.

SIPPS PROGRAM

We offer the SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) Program at St. Mary's for students who need extra support in reading. Our SIPPS instructor, Ms. Gonzalez, works in small groups with students twice a week to get them back up to academic standards for their grade level.

STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAM

For middle school students requiring extra support in completing assignments or staying focused, we offer weekly times where they can meet with our student support instructor to come up with a game plan and get some quiet time to work.

STEP PROGRAM

The Support Team Education Plan (STEP) Program is a collaborative process that brings together students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators to seek positive solutions based on a student's strengths and special needs to help that student benefit from his or her education and to facilitate participation in the Catholic school curriculum.
